Mike James, a native of a small town called Magnolia, NC and first-generation college student. Mike has always had a deep passion to support and uplift all people. Mike is an alumnus of North Carolina State University and current graduate student at Johns Hopkins University. Mike found his passion in college access after his experiences with an alternative service break opportunity in Punta Gorda, Belize, working for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at NC State and serving as the co-organizer for Brothers United In Leadership Development (BUILD) a program fostering male students of color leadership skills, building connections and creating opportunities. Mike realizes the importance of helping students access higher education and the need for mentors, advocates and active leaders in the community. Mike looks forward to working with the scholars as they further their education.
