Krystle Word is a native of New York State, but has lived and worked in Baltimore since 2007. She received her undergraduate degree in English from SUNY, Buffalo and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. Krystle began her professional career as an Editorial Writer for the New York State Assembly before transitioning into teaching writing and literature at the undergraduate level. After observing many students who were under-prepared for the rigor of college coursework, Krystle made another transition to teaching high school English with Baltimore City Public Schools. Now, with a broad perspective of the the challenges and opportunities that are before local students, Krystle is eager to help students prepare for, pursue, and access quality higher education.
