Dr. Charlene Stewart, a native of Washington, D.C., was considered a first generation college student who graduated from Bowie State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pedology (now known as Child and Adolescent Studies). Dr. Stewart moved to Baltimore City in 2007 to attend the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work. Upon earning her Master of Social Work degree in Clinical and Management Community Organization with a specialization in Children and Families, Dr. Stewart obtained employment with Baltimore City Department of Social Services (BCDSS). Dr. Stewart worked to ensure that all Baltimore City foster youth gained awareness of the college access process through experiential learning, workshops, and seminars. It was during this position that Dr. Stewart decided to continue her education by earning a Doctorate of Education from Morgan State University. Dr. Stewart is dedicated to continuing her efforts in helping prepare Baltimore City’s youth get to and through college.
